Xenoglossy Productions household instrumental raw black metal one man band ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS returns after a year hiatus with a split release with another raw black metal one man band: France's REFLET CRÉPUSCULAIRE.
Both projects share a deep interest in Argentinian magical realism writer and poet Jorge Luis Borges and have already released material dedicated to the author.

ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS based their side of their 2020 split with Quilmoloncm (another Borges-inspired release) on the short story "Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius", published in 1944 on "Ficciones"; while the whole of REFLET CRÉPUSCULAIRE's concept is about the works of Borges.

On this split, ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS' side is based on the eponymous short story "El Inmortal", published in 1949 on "The Aleph". The story is about a fictional found manuscript purporting to be written by a Roman soldier who discovered a river which bestowed immortality upon any who drank from it.
It is the band's longest track thus far, showcasing their talent for stretched-out and wailing melodies and mid-tempo riffs, much like the material on their 2020 demo "Umwelt".

REFLET CRÉPUSCULAIRE's side is based on two short stories: "The God's Script" (which also appeared on "The Aleph") is about an Aztec priest who is imprisoned with a jaguar, coming to realize that there's a divine script hidden within the jaguar's fur; while "Ulrica" (published in 1975 on "The Book of Sand") is about a meeting between Ulrica, a Norwegian woman, and a Colombian teacher, Javier Otárola in York. The couple falls in love with each other and takes possession of the names of the heroes of the legendary sagas of Brynhild and Sigurd.
The two songs are a continuation of the sound showcased on the "The Tormented Wanderer" trilogy, alternating between blast-beats and slower sections.

Out on June 2nd on cassette tape format.
