about

CT003

The third iteration of Cossyra Tapes marks the debut of a new project from the island of Pantelleria: KUDDIA ATTALORA is a one man band featuring A. from Gelkhammar on all instruments.
Their two instrumental tracks are unique sounding raw and fast black metal, yet there is a rarely heard presence of melodic riffs and often blistering solos.
The project's monicker comes from a hill on the southern side of the island. The two tracks are also references to two different Pantelleria landmarks, Balata dei Turchi is its southernmost cape, while Tariqbonsulton (meaning "path of the son of the Sultan" in the dialect of Pantelleria) is the name of a local street.

The anonymous entity known as GADIR returns with three tracks, with a slightly different approach compared to the "Declivities" demo: riffs are still noisy and repetitive, but with a stronger first wave black metal influence and almost death metal at times.
Lyrics are enigmatic and short depictions of desertic and labyrinthine places. "Rook" is referenced in the cover artwork, a picture of the ruins of Humayma, an Early Islamic trading outpost in southern Jordan, where the oldest known piece of chess has been found.
